Conference Description
The USC Value Investing Group is hosting an undergraduate investment conference at the University of Southern California. This two-day event will be held on Friday, March 31st and Saturday, April 1st. We encourage you to sign up HERE for email updates on the conference.
The competition will offer a platform for you to showcase your talents, refine your investing skill set, and network with like-minded individuals, industry professionals, and student leaders. As a conference participant you will have the opportunity to network with professionals from Morgan Stanley, Solstein Capital, Summit Partners, Apriori Capital and Cappello Global. Events include a participant dinner, stock pitch competition and several keynote speakers.

Stock Pitch Expectations
If you are interested in participating in this event, please submit a two-page investment review to uscvalue@gmail.com and register by February 28th. Our sponsors will select their favorite investment ideas and chosen teams will be invited to compete in two rounds of judging. , held at the University of Southern California. Teams must consist of two to four members. Teams must give a buy or sell recommendation on an equity of their choice.
Your stock pitch should be of professional quality and include information on:
- Investment Thesis and a Buy/Sell Recommendation Summary
- Analysis of Business and Industry
- Valuation
1) Eligible investments will follow these guidelines:
a. U.S. Equities only
b. Market Capitalization above $100 million
2) In the first round, each team will have a maximum of 10 minutes of presentation time followed by a 7-minute question and answer session with the judges
3) In the final round, each group will have a maximum of 12 minutes of presentation time followed by a 10-minute question and answer session with the judges
4) More than one team can represent a participating school
Judging Process
Judges will be asked to evaluate your stock pitches based on the following criteria:
1) Stock Pick Quality (Investment risk, potential upside)
2) Presentation Quality (Communication skills, visual aids)
Time Line of Events
February 28, 2017 - Two-Page Investment Summary Due
February 28th, 2017 - Finalists Registration is Due
March 4th, 2017 - Finalists Notified by midnight
March 7th, 2017 - Finalist fees and survey due at midnight
March 31st - April 1st - Event Held at USC
Registration
Formal registration is for once your team is for when your team is ready to submit the 2-page pitch. We hope you consider joining us for this event. The deadline to submit your registration form is February 28th. If your team is chosen to compete, we will notify you and there will be a $35 fee per member on your team.
Please Note: Registration will not be complete until a two-page investment thesis is emailed to uscvalue@gmail.com.
