The USC Value Investing Group formed in the spring of 2009 with the aim to create a community of high-achieving students with a passion for value investing. The group prides itself in its intellectual rigor, elite membership and vast industry knowledge and contacts. VIG’s mission is to maintain the learning-centric community envisioned by the founders where student members can start out on the life’s path of reaching investing excellence by exploring valuation methodologies, stock selection practices and market evaluation strategies. Those select students accepted as members into the group have the opportunity and are required to learn and work with more senior members.
The Value Investing Group has had the privilege of representing the University of Southern California at several stock pitch competitions across the nation. Members of the group annually participate in competitions held at Michigan, Harvard and Georgetown. In the spring of 2014, the group won the Georgetown Stock Pitch Conference. In the fall of 2014, the group earned the distinction "Best Idea" at the Harvard Competition.
